This is the video from a PBS series narrated by Brad Pitt. In this part of the series it showcases one of the Project Managers on the Big Dig Project. The Big Dig was the single most expensive Highway Project in the history of the United States. One of the many things left over during the construction process was 20,000 tons of concrete and 38,000 tons of steel. One the Project managers asked if might have some of the left over debris and they easily obliged. He then proceeded to find a lot, an architecture firm (Single Speed Design), and then walked them through the debris until they found all the pieces necessary to building a recycled home. Concrete platforms that span much longer distances then normal, have weight bearing loads much greater so they can support a full garden on the roof, and many other great things were all at the Architects disposal thanks to the type of material and the cost. All the photos and the information for this house are posted as well under the firm Single Speed Design (SsD)
